Name the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge after the man who championed the effort, Senator Bob Oke

There is a noble effort to name the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge after the man who championed the effort, Senator Bob Oke. I support the idea. It was Bob’s vision and effort that got the project moving and completed. Coming from the East Coast where there are a lot of bridges (that work!), I think Kitsap could use a few more in a couple of key places including a Southworth-Vashon-West Seattle bridge. The recent ferry debacle lends credence to that notion.

I wasn’t able to get anywhere ‘googling” www.http://bridgebob.org, but I did find the “Bridge of Faith” website endorsing the idea that the Narrows bridge be named after Bob Oke. Here’s the URL to click on or cut’n'paste onto your browser: http://bridgebob.org/index.html
(copied the above from an email I was sent, explains the “I wasn’t….” etc.)

UPDATE- Lantz and Seaquist Weigh in on “Oke” Bridge from the blog Speaking of South Kitsap by Chris Henry has two opposing views represented by Pat Lantz and Larry Seaquist on how the legislature shouldn’t name bridges, well who does name bridges then is my question? Comments welcome.

Silverdale Chamber seeks input on incorporation

The Silverdale Chamber of Commerce has created a task force to make a recommendation regarding Silverdale incorporation. The recommendation will be based in-part on information received from the membership and community at-large.

The task force has created a 12-question survey about the topic and is inviting the public to respond. A link to the survey can be found at www.silverdalechamber.com.

Comments welcome.

You just need to know how to type …

Found an interesting post today from WIRED Magazine (a subscription to Wired is a great gift for any geek you know, in my humble opinion) anyway it’s a graphical representation of what happens to a blog post (like the one you’re reading now) in a very nice web 2.0 presentation.
The link is The Life Cycle of a Blog Post, From Servers to Spiders to Suits — to You and I hope it will get you started on your blog today.

Report storm related damages as soon as possible in Kitsap County

Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management is requesting that homeowners and businesses to report storm related damages as soon as possible. To qualify for federal assistance, the county must provide an estimate to authorities by this Friday, December 7.

There are no county/state funds available to help individuals with disaster related losses. If damage to homes and businesses is significant, the state will request Federal Disaster Aid. If authorized, the funding would be available to assist local governments and certain non-profit groups in supplementing the state and local recovery efforts.

Thanks for your help – please feel free to forward this message to any and all interested parties.
