Just For Kitsap

A great day for caring Wednesday, June 21, 2006 is the annual “Day of Caring” sponsored by United Way of Kitsap County. On this day people throughout the county lend a hand by assisting non-profit agencies with much needed physical projects such as cleaning up campgrounds, building picnic tables for summer camps, landscaping, painting office space, and organizing food banks. The tasks vary each year.

The day kicks off at 7:30 a.m. with a no-cost continental breakfast at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds – Presidents Hall where volunteers will meet their “team” and receive a complimentary t- shirt and a brown bag lunch. From that location volunteers head out to their designated work sites.

I encourage you to do the same. To register for the event contact Tamra Ingwaldson at 360-377-8505, tingwaldson@unitedwaykitsap.org. If the 21st is a day that does not fit into your schedule, there are a number of weekend projects that need to be accomplished.

Nothing contributes more to the quality of community than people helping other people do important work.
